Our mission is to support excellence in the board volunteer leadership and governance of Canadian non-profit organizations.

As a division of Becker Associates, the Canadian Nonprofit Academy serves Canadian nonprofit volunteer and staff leaders through board development, online training,  governance and strategic consulting,  and coaching for Executive Directors and Board Chairs.

Becker Associates is a professional services company committed to supporting better board governance. Our services enable volunteers to become leaders in their communities and direct resource toward long-term goals and strategies. It would be our pleasure to be your board’s guide toward better governance.

The Canadian Nonprofit Academy (CNPA)  was founded in 2013 by Christina Becker, Vice President Consulting and Training of Becker Associates.   She saw a need for innovative, affordance and accessible board development and training programs for volunteer leaders. 

in 2013, Christina started to offer this type of board training in a half-day workshop.  She created the course from her collective experience to give new and experienced board members a step-by-step guide on how to to be effective and confident board members. She delivered this course to numerous organizations and hundreds of volunteer board members.

Christina has been consulting and coaching to the non-profit sector for close to 40 years, and has been around the boardroom table. She has dedicated much of my career to non-profit management including earning an MBA in nonprofit and arts management in 1980s.

In her long career, she has had many roles – consultant, Executive Director, board member, volunteer President – where she has helped non-profit boards become more effective, refine their vision, and plan for their future.   She knows what works and what doesn’t work. She has seen and worked with great and well-organized boards, and with dysfunctional boards.
